Built in the late 1800's, my studio is home to great history & memories. A childhood dream was realized when I opened my boutique style photography studio loft in this unique space filled with character. The space combined with our location in the quaint downtown area of Hudson, WI offers the capability for custom photography sessions indoors in addition to personalized on-location sites. My signature portrait style consists of simple,

yet strong composition resulting in images that are both honest and highly emotive. Foregoing stiff poses and forced smiles, I interact with subjects in such a way that unveils their distinct personalities. This approach combined with exquisite attention to detail provides for a comfortable and relaxed photo session and extraordinary images.

376 days old…

This session was supposed to take place on this little girl’s 1st birthday but the Minnesota weather forced us to reschedule.  Instead I captured her at 376 days-old and let me tell you…I don’t think we could have timed it any better if we tried.  Oh, the fun we had!

The following image earned a spot as one of my all-time favorite images after her Mom told me the story behind the book.  A sentimental treasure to say the least.

Prom 2008… | Senior pictures Stillwater, Minnesota

Imagine my delight when I received a call from a client who wanted me to photograph a group of kids headed off to the Stillwater High School prom!  I could hardly wait to see these kids dressed up and ready to celebrate the end of the school year.  The girls looked absolutely stunning and oh, so classy.  It was fun watching all the kids head off in what I heard one kid refer to as the “souped up limo bus”.  (He wasn’t joking!)

Eye Smiles…

It’s not very often I meet someone who can smile with their eyes, but this little girl has it down to a science.  She is obviously a very happy baby whose parents absolutely adore her.  I wish you guys the best as you make your way back to California!

Nostalgic…

I’m not sure what it was about this beautiful little girl but I was struck with an overwhelming sense of nostalgia during her session. Maybe it was her Jackie O.-inspired sunglasses or the blanket her Great-Grandma made for her?  At any rate, she definitely had the look of a child from the days gone by and what a joy it was to have an opportunity to photograph her.

The scoop…

One of the best things about my job is the relationships established with the families I work with.  I started photographing this particular family when their son was 3 months old.  Well, here we are 21 months and a few sessions later and I was back to capture the newest addition to the family…a girl!  Midway through the session big brother wanted in on the action so I made a spot for him right next to his baby sister.  I can’t help but wonder what he’s telling her about me in this shot.  Hmmm?

Congratulations again you guys!  It’s always such a joy to work with you.

Belly Laugh | Hudson, Wisconsin children’s photographer

Some of you might remember this little girl from a family session I posted last fall.   Well…she just celebrated her birthday so we met again to document her at the busy age of 3.   It was raining and freezing cold that day so we ended up at the loft where she made herself right at home.  Throughout most of the session she kept looking over at the bag her mom brought along as though there might be something very important hidden within.  After a while, I asked her what was in there and without missing a beat she ran over to the bag and pulled out a hat.  She sat down, put on her hat and broke out into an honest to goodness belly laugh.  She was so excited about her little green hat.  So fun!
