Built in the late 1800's, my studio is home to great history & memories. A childhood dream was realized when I opened my boutique style photography studio loft in this unique space filled with character. The space combined with our location in the quaint downtown area of Hudson, WI offers the capability for custom photography sessions indoors in addition to personalized on-location sites. My signature portrait style consists of simple,

yet strong composition resulting in images that are both honest and highly emotive. Foregoing stiff poses and forced smiles, I interact with subjects in such a way that unveils their distinct personalities. This approach combined with exquisite attention to detail provides for a comfortable and relaxed photo session and extraordinary images.

Newborn.

Welcome, little one…

In the hustle and bustle of this busy season I have to admit that it’s refreshing to work with these little ones who have no real sense of urgency (unless they are hungry, of course).  This beautiful baby girl spent the entire session in what appeared to be a very blissful sleep.  Congratulations on the newest addition to your family you guys!

Tradition…

Around this time every year my calendar is filled with quite a few family sessions.  So many of the sessions are with clients whom I have worked with in previous years and our Fall sessions have turned into somewhat of a family tradition.  I have worked with this particular family on several occassions and in the proccess I have established quite a friendship with the oldest boy.  I love that he remembers me and is always so eager to share the latest happenings.  As you can see from the last picture in this post I’m still working on his little brother.  I think he’ll come around though.  Ha!

Molly + Nathan: Married…

Some of you may remember Molly and Nathan from their engagment session I posted earlier this year. I traveled back to Iowa for their wedding day and what a day it was! Molly and Nathan braved the elements to wander around the breathtaking venue for some photo opps. We started with a hike through the woods where we stumbled across an old hunting shack which served as a perfect spot for pictures. Molly’s dad also brought the truck we used for their engagement session to the property *just in case* we wanted to use it again. How could I resist? But my favorite part of the day was Molly being transported to the wedding ceremony on a beautiful horse drawn carriage. It was truly a sight to be seen. Thanks again Molly and Nathan for allowing me to be a part of your special day. Best wishes!

High School Senior.

“A Little Bit Country…”

…and a little bit rock-n-roll.  That pretty much sums up this session with Kerstin, a beautiful Hudson High School senior.  Her gorgeous red hair combined with her awesome sense of style made for a very fun photo session.  After a few shots around town we headed out to her farm where I got to meet her horse and watch the two of them in action.  I have to give credit to Kerstin for toughing it out in the COLD weather in her sundress…she was a champ to say the least!

Mackenzie…

I am so far behind on blogging but wanted to take a moment to share some images of Miss Mackenzie, a beautiful high school senior from Cretin-Durham Hall.  She is passionate about swimming and best of all…shopping!  I loved all of her clothes (and jewelry)!! Mackenzie, I really enjoyed our time together.  Best wishes to you as you finish out your senior year!

Anna…

Yet another senior and no, I will never tire of them.  Meet Anna, a beautiful senior from Stillwater high school, who witnessed first hand the lengths I will go to in order to get to “the” perfect location.  Ha!  We made it out alive and we had not one run-in with a deer.  Whew! Not only is Anna gorgeous and sweet, but she is also the daughter of an incredibely talented artist, Carl Erickson, of North Main Studio.   His work is beautiful…it’s no wonder one of his pieces landed at the Smithsonian. Anna, thanks again for coming out to the studio. I had a great time chatting (and hiking) with you. Ha!

“Big brother…”

I was in Minneapolis to photograph a beautiful baby girl who was recently welcomed home by her loving family.  When I arrived she was still sleeping so I took that opportunity to spend time with her big brother.  He and I had quite the time together…even in the pouring rain and I have to tell you that my heart melted when he offered to share his umbrella with me.  His little sister was just as sweet and I still can’t get over how bright-eyed and giggly she was through the entire session.

Vintage…

In one of my recent blog posts I mentioned some of the interesting stories behind the clothes seniors bring with them to their session.  Addie, a senior at Minnehaha Academy, had a great collection of vintage goodies; a t-shirt, purse, and best of all…her mom’s prom dress!  How fun is that?!
