Dana…

We’ve had quite the weather pattern this year in the Minneapolis metro.  Last winter seemed to drag on forever and this summer has been relatively cool.  Luckily, we had a “heat wave” with high’s in the mid to upper 80’s for a few weeks in August and was it ever a welcome change of pace?!  Dana’s session took place on one of those days and I was thrilled to finally have an opportunity to shoot without worrying about my subject getting too cold!  Dana and I had a great time working together and comparing notes on our favorite spots in and around her home turf in South Minneapolis including Chatterbox Pub.  Note: If you are in the Minneapolis area I would highly recommend “Chatterbox Pub” (80’s inspired restaurant complete with Atari games, Boggle, and any other 80’s board game you can think of) and the food is DE-lish!  Anyway, here are a few images from  my session with Dana!  As you can see, she is absolutely beautiful…both inside and out!

Daddy’s girl…

This beautiful little girl is the daughter of two very loving parents.  Her daddy, Dolf, is a bit of a hero in my eyes.  A mutual friend of ours, Grant, was very sick a few years ago and he took it upon himself to visit Grant once a week to read to him.  From what I’m told, Grant very much looked forward to these visits from his former teacher and it really helped him through the rough times.  When Grant passed away Dolf gave one of the most incredible speeches I’ve ever heard in my life and it still resonates with me nearly two years later.  It was such an honor to photograph Dolf and Heather’s daughter as she celebrated her first birthday.  She is absolutely beautiful and has an adorable personality…especially when Dad stepped in to make her laugh!  I had a hard time putting my camera down and calling it a wrap.

Carli…

I’m always surprised when my clients mention my blog and how often they check in to see what I’ve been up to.  It seems the last few months I’ve gone through a bit of a blog drought so I’m making an effort to update this site more often.  Thanks to everyone who stops by the blog and actually takes time to read the entries…I love your enthusiasm and support!  Here are a few pictures from a recent senior session with Carli.  She was a natural in front of the camera and had loads of personality.  So fun!!

Taylor…

Senior sessions are truly one of my favorite types of sessions to photograph.  I love how excited the kids are to start their senior year and it’s fun to listen to them chat about their plans for the future.  Taylor was pretty quiet for the first half of his session but after a while he opened up and shared the goals he has after high school.  I enjoyed chatting with him and loved that by the end of his session we were sitting down looking through pictures on his camera phone.  It’s so fun to watch kids open up and let me into their lives in such a short amount of time.  Thanks again, Gina, for bringing Taylor to Hudson for his senior session.  I had a great time working with you guys!

Close call…

Throughout my career as a photographer I’ve had some odd and crazy experiences, but none quite like this!  I was in the middle of shooting a series with Jenni, a beautiful senior from Stillwater High School, with her mom looking on when a car backed up the hill and you guessed it…bumped into her mom!  Luckily, her mom wasn’t hurt and we all got a good chuckle out of it.  When I went back to review the images I realized I caught Jenni’s reaction to the incident (see image below).  I’m so grateful nobody was hurt and that we were able to finish out the session.  Jenni is such a sweet girl and so well-rounded…something tells me big things will come her way.  Have a great senior year, Jenni!

Krissy… | Minneapolis Senior Photographer

It’s been nearly two years since I opened The Loft and what a fun and exciting journey it has been.   One of my very first clients to have photos taken in my new space was the older sister of Krissy, a beautiful 2010 senior.  Krissy has been looking forward to this experience for quite a while and I loved her enthusiasm throughout the session.  We had a riot working together and I loved her mom’s reaction to the images.  I love my job!

Sadelle… | Minneapolis high school senior photographer

It’s late August which means we are smack dab in the middle of senior season…one of my favorite times of the year!  Working with seniors reminds me of just how much I loved my job as a high school teacher.  This years’ seniors have been especially enjoyable including this beautiful girl, Sadelle, who was excited to kick off the start of her senior year with this photo session.  A special thanks to Mike who so kindly let us use his ‘55 Olds for a few frames!

One year later… | Minneapolis luxury children’s photographer

I’ve been photographing this litte man for just over one year now and I can’t even begin to describe how much I’ve enjoyed working with him.  Within minutes of meeting his mom at the very first session I knew we would be fast friends.  She is truly one of the most joyous and humble people I’ve ever met in my life and she appears to be passing those traits onto her son.  He is such a calm, happy and content dude which has made working with him a real treat!  Kimberly, thank you so much for trusting me to capture your family memories for the past year.  I wish you guys the best as you settle into your fabulous place in Malibu!  I’ll see you out there soon!!

Road Trip… | Minneapolis unique senior pictures

When I established the high school senior division of my photography business I hoped my sessions would be an experience…something kids would remember for many years to come.  Cassy and her mom traveled quite a distance to have her senior pictures done with me so they rented a hotel room near Mall of America and spent the day before the session shopping and having fun.  When they arrived for the session Cassy was so excited and it definitely came through on film.  I love that her session was exactly the type of experience I hoped high school seniors would have with me!  I’m also thrilled that Cassy and her mom FINALLY got their first taste of Wisconsin cheese curds!  Yummy, right?!
