Alex…

Some of you may recognize Alex from a modeling portfolio shoot I did with him last year.  Alex is in his senior year at St. Thomas Academy so he came back to the studio for his senior photo session.  Our first attempt was cut short due to rain but he returned a few weeks later to finish up his shoot.  Alex and I share a love for books and The Half Price Book Store (if you’re in the Minneapolis area and like to read I highly recommend this store)!  Alex’s book lists are impressive and I always walk away from our sessions inspired to read.  Best wishes to you Alex as you finish out your senior year!

I’ve been photographing the Gerten’s for the past few years and I always look forward to working on their holiday cards.  This year is no exception and look at the fun color combination they came up with for me this time!

Shelby…

Meet one of Minnesota’s state record holders in track and field, Shelby, a 2010 senior from Holy Family High School in Victoria, MN.  As we were shooting she explained that her relay team has placed 3 years in a row at state in the 4×100 and last year they took the title.  As a former high school gymnastic coach I know first hand how much dedication it takes to compete at the state level.  Shelby is a go-getter through and through…something I’m sure will take her far in life.  Congrats again, Shelby and best wishes on your upcoming track season!

Ashley…

Ashley, a 2010 Woodbury High School senior, walked into the studio with a bag full of fashion magazines and a sketch pad.  We spent a few minutes chatting about our plans for the session when I finally asked about the bag.  She explained that she loves fashion design and has plans to attend the Minneapolis Institute of Art and Design next year.  I thumbed through her portfolio and she pointed out some of her favorite designs which were nothing short of amazing.  Ashley, I wish you the best as you finish out your senior year.

Elly…

When Elly, a 2010 Wayzata High School senior, and her mom walked through my door I knew I was in for a special treat.  They have an incredible connection and bond with one another.  About half way through the shoot we stumbled upon a location where the light was coming through the trees and hitting Elly just at the right angle.  I started snapping away and when I looked over my shoulder I saw her mom wiping away tears.  It was such a special moment and it is definitely something I’ll remember for years to come.  Elly and Allison, thank you so much for driving all the way to Hudson for your session.  It was such a joy and blessing to work with you both.  Enjoy your senior year, Elly!

Katelyn…

When Katelyn’s mom called to book a session for her daughter, a 2010 senior from Totino-Grace High School, we started discussing possible location ideas.  She told me their townhouse was located across the street from the Guthrie Theatre in downtown Minneapolis.  I knew immediately that the perfect location was a hop, skip and a jump from her beautiful townhome.  Katelyn and I had a fabulous time wandering around and as you can see…she made my job quite easy.  She is a natural performer and it definitely came through during our session.  Thanks again Katelyn and Cindy.  You were both so fun to work with!

Natalie…

Meet Natalie, a 2010 Breck High School senior.  She and I share a love for reading which always makes for a fun conversation.  Even her mom joined in on our conversation and we all realized we have very similar taste in books.  Natalie is a brilliant and incredibly sweet girl…something tells me she will go far in life.

Emily…

There are times when I can just sense a session is going to be great.  When Emily arrived for hair and make-up at the studio before her session she gave them free reign to do whatever they wanted which is always a fun way to start.  The stylists got to work and when I came back out from my office Emily was giddy with excitement to start her session.  She is one of those girls I know I would have thoroughly enjoyed having in my class back when I was a teacher.  Not only is Emily beautiful but she is also sweet, inquisitive and sincere…a great combination.  Best wishes to you, Emily, as you finish out your senior year!

“Baby Go-Go”…

I met Elly for the first time last year when I photographed her one-year portraits.   When I arrived to photograph Elly’s brand new baby sister, Reese, Elly answered the door and walked me right over to her little sister, pointed and said “Baby Go-Go”!  Her parents must have sensed my confusion over the name so they explained that Elly was given a doll to prepare her for the arrival of the baby.  Elly named her doll “Baby Go-Go” and now that the real baby has arrived she is sticking to the name she picked. She is so proud of her new Baby Go-Go!  Congratulations Nick, Kara & Elly on the arrival of Reese (a.k.a. Baby Go-Go)…you have a beautiful family.

Dad pitched in and helped keep Elly occupied so I could get some solo shots of Reese…I couldn’t resist taking a few shots of this scene!

Katherine…

When Katherine’s mom called to book her session I had a sneaking suspicion we might get along.  She described Katherine as an energetic, out-going girl who loves to travel and dance…that was me to a T in high school!  As we spoke on the phone, I discovered the mother-daughter team searched high and low for a photographer for months and when they stumbled across my site they thought they found the perfect fit! They were both so excited when the day arrived and it definitely carried through in her pictures.  We had a riot working together…so much so that I had a hard time calling an end to the session. Best wishes to you, Katherine, as you finish out your senior year at Rosemount High School!  I’m so glad you found me!

Cuteness…

Very rarely do I happen upon a 6 month old as eager to have his photo taken as this little man.  The second I started shooting he turned on the charm and worked the camera like a pro!  He just learned to sit up all by himself and he was oh, so proud of himself.  Such a cute little thing, don’t you agree?
