Built in the late 1800's, my studio is home to great history & memories. A childhood dream was realized when I opened my boutique style photography studio loft in this unique space filled with character. The space combined with our location in the quaint downtown area of Hudson, WI offers the capability for custom photography sessions indoors in addition to personalized on-location sites. My signature portrait style consists of simple,

yet strong composition resulting in images that are both honest and highly emotive. Foregoing stiff poses and forced smiles, I interact with subjects in such a way that unveils their distinct personalities. This approach combined with exquisite attention to detail provides for a comfortable and relaxed photo session and extraordinary images.

Little lady…

It’s so hard for me to believe this little lady is already 6 years old.  She has grown up right before my eyes and I have loved getting to know her and watching her personality develop and grow over the years.  Her sweet and gentle disposition and the fact that she loves being in front of the camera really makes her a photographers dream.   We had a great time together and I love that she brought an extra cupcake from her birthday party to share with me after the session…that really made my day.  Happy Birthday, my friend!  Until next time…

This little girl was so excited to show me all of her tricks as soon as I stepped into her room.  I was no sooner in the door and she slammed the door shut behind me as if to say that I would be staying a while.  I took a seat on the floor and watched her go on, and on, and on… She danced, twirled, climbed, pulled out a stack of books for us to read, and even squeezed in a game of peek-a-boo.  Oh, the fun we had playing in her room!  What I wouldn’t give to have a picture of the moment when she brought a book over to me, plopped down on my lap, grabbed my hand and patted it on the pages.  That was her way of telling me she’d had enough camera time and she was ready for me to read her a book.  Being the book lover that I am I seized the opportunity and put my camera down so I could enjoy the book with my little friend.

She saved my favorite tricks for last!  First, she showed me her camera skills…she would be a great apprentice, don’t you agree?

Then she showed me her toes, belly button, ears, and last but not least…her nose! Gotta’ love it!

Little charmer…

The first frame I shot of this little guy shows that he wasn’t exactly sure what to think of me with my big camera in front of my face.  (See the first image on the left below.)  But, then look at the image right next to it and you’ll see that it didn’t take but a second for him to turn on the charm.  He started laughing and giggling just a few frames into the session and didn’t stop for quite some time.  He was such a sweet little boy to photograph and I love that he found me so funny! Happy 1/2 birthday, little man!

Children, Newborn.

Welcome, Sydney…

Something I never anticipated when I started my photography business is how much joy it would bring me to watch kids grow up in front of my lens.  That has certainly been the case with this beautiful family I’ve been photographing over the past four years.  It’s been such a treat to watch the kids grow and develop their unique personalities with each and every session.  Their family just expanded with the addition of baby Sydney and I loved having the chance to photograph her for the very first time.  I’m looking forward to getting to know her just as I’ve gotten to know her adorable siblings.  Congrats again, Nick and Jessica!

A special thank you to Paislee Lane for some of the adorable headbands used in this shoot!

Little Leo isn’t so little anymore!  The last time I saw him he was a teeny-tiny baby and now he is 7 months old and boy, is he busy.  Leo recently learned to crawl and he LOVES showing off his new skill.  It’s sessions like this when I wish my still shots had audio so you could hear the excitement in his voice as he crawled back and forth…back and forth…back and forth.  He was having the time of his life and I didn’t have the heart to stop him so I just went along for the ride.  This shoot was so much fun and I loved capturing Leo doing what he loves!  Happy crawling, little man!

Some of you may remember Brenna from her newborn session I posted here.  She is growing up oh, so fast!  If you read the story from her newborn session you know that Brenna’s parents took three older boys under their wings before they had children of their own.  So little Brenna not only has two biological siblings, but she has three much older brothers that love her to pieces!  Erikson came along for the photo session and he absolutely melted my heart when I saw him sitting in the corner reading to her as I was getting things ready for the shoot.  This family is truly incredible and little Brenna is so lucky to have so many people who love her to pieces!

On a sidenote: after meeting Erikson and seeing him interact with his little sister I knew he would make a great “kid”sitter for my boys.  We’ve had him over a handful of times and the boys adore him!  Something tells me we’ll be seeing a lot of Erikson around our house as I head into the busy season.

Little Miss Brenna was SOOOO determined to pull herself up to standing on this box!  It was so cute to watch her try and the look on her face when she finally did it was priceless!

With the winter we’ve had I’m feeling especially grateful for my studio this year!  Typically by February there are sporadic days of sunshine and we get a little sneak peek of spring…not this year!!  Instead we received another foot of snow and it’s still MUCH too cold to be outside shooting.  Addy came in for her 5-year photo session and we decided to stay tucked indoors where it was nice and cozy.  It didn’t take long for Addy and I to find common ground.  When I told Addy I remembered getting a Strawberry Shortcake doll for my 5th birthday she got VERY excited…she is a big fan to say the very least!  We exchanged a great deal of trivia throughout the session.  It’s a good thing I remember little miss Strawberry Shortcake and her cat, Custard.  And let’s not forget the Peculiar Purple Pie Man, Apple Dumplin’ and Raspberry Tart!  Ah, the memories!

Children, Family.

Universal Language…

One thing I rely heavily on during a typical photo session is my ability to communicate with my subjects.  It’s something I’ve really come to love about my job.  However, when this little tyke came into the studio for his one year photos I was presented with a bit of a challenge…he only speaks Finnish.  Some of you may remember him from his newborn session last year where I explained that both of his parents are from Finland, but moved here where Antti (Dad) could pursue his career.  As I started the session I quickly realized that my usual tactics of engaging a child were going to be tough.   I had to think fast so I found a camera and showed him the ropes for a few minutes.  It didn’t take him long to put two and two together and he turned on the charm.  Regardless of the language barrier, we had a great time working together and I got a kick out of his reactions to some of my antics.  Happy Birthday, little man!

Happy New Year…

What a year it has been here at Jamie Schultz Photography!   I want to take a moment to express a sincere thank you to my clients who have entrusted me to capture their families throughout the year.  It is truly an honor to work with each and every one of you.  From all of us at Jamie Schultz Photography we wish you the very best in the coming year.

Below are a few holiday projects that left our studio over the past few weeks…oh, what fun we had pulling these together!

Birthday girl…

This one-year birthday shoot was bittersweet.   I’ve been photographing Cleo every few months since she was a newborn and in the process I’ve become quite smitten with her.  She is so full of personality and absolutely adores being in front of the camera…especially when there is a mound of frosted goodness involved.  :)  I sure am going to miss our meetings every few months, but her mom reassures me they will be back again.  Happy Birthday, sweet girl!  I’ll see you next year!
