Laurel, a 2010 high school senior, and I are certainly no strangers! I’ve been working with her family for the past three years and on average I’m at their home 3-4 times a year. When you are with a family as much as I have been with hers you tend to establish some pretty strong bonds. Laurel and I have been planning her senior pictures for the past couple of years and it’s hard to believe it’s come and gone. I can only hope she had as much fun as I did during the session! Laurel, I wish you the very best as you finish your senior year of high school. Come back and visit when you are home from college!

Meet Kate, a beautiful Woodbury High School senior, who also happens to be an incredibely talented figure skater. My cousin is a professional figure skater currently on tour and having watched her over the years I know first hand the level of determination it takes to succeed in the sport of figure skating. Kate skates nearly every day of the week often times before the sun rises. She is so passionate about what she does and it left me feeling inspired. Thanks again Kate for choosing me as your photographer. I had a great time working with you!

Some of you may recognize Alex from a modeling portfolio shoot I did with him last year. Alex is in his senior year at St. Thomas Academy so he came back to the studio for his senior photo session. Our first attempt was cut short due to rain but he returned a few weeks later to finish up his shoot. Alex and I share a love for books and The Half Price Book Store (if you’re in the Minneapolis area and like to read I highly recommend this store)! Alex’s book lists are impressive and I always walk away from our sessions inspired to read. Best wishes to you Alex as you finish out your senior year!

I’ve been photographing the Gerten’s for the past few years and I always look forward to working on their holiday cards. This year is no exception and look at the fun color combination they came up with for me this time!

Ashley, a 2010 Woodbury High School senior, walked into the studio with a bag full of fashion magazines and a sketch pad. We spent a few minutes chatting about our plans for the session when I finally asked about the bag. She explained that she loves fashion design and has plans to attend the Minneapolis Institute of Art and Design next year. I thumbed through her portfolio and she pointed out some of her favorite designs which were nothing short of amazing. Ashley, I wish you the best as you finish out your senior year.

When Libby arrived for her session I had a feeling we were going to hit it off. She had on some adorable Juicy Couture shoes which, of course, caught my attention and served as a great talking point early in the session. Libby’s sweet nature and infectious smile made this session such a treat for me. Thanks again for choosing me to capture this time in your life, Libby! You were a blast to work with!

I’m always surprised when my clients mention my blog and how often they check in to see what I’ve been up to. It seems the last few months I’ve gone through a bit of a blog drought so I’m making an effort to update this site more often. Thanks to everyone who stops by the blog and actually takes time to read the entries…I love your enthusiasm and support! Here are a few pictures from a recent senior session with Carli. She was a natural in front of the camera and had loads of personality. So fun!!

Senior sessions are truly one of my favorite types of sessions to photograph. I love how excited the kids are to start their senior year and it’s fun to listen to them chat about their plans for the future. Taylor was pretty quiet for the first half of his session but after a while he opened up and shared the goals he has after high school. I enjoyed chatting with him and loved that by the end of his session we were sitting down looking through pictures on his camera phone. It’s so fun to watch kids open up and let me into their lives in such a short amount of time. Thanks again, Gina, for bringing Taylor to Hudson for his senior session. I had a great time working with you guys!

It’s been nearly two years since I opened The Loft and what a fun and exciting journey it has been. One of my very first clients to have photos taken in my new space was the older sister of Krissy, a beautiful 2010 senior. Krissy has been looking forward to this experience for quite a while and I loved her enthusiasm throughout the session. We had a riot working together and I loved her mom’s reaction to the images. I love my job!

It’s late August which means we are smack dab in the middle of senior season…one of my favorite times of the year! Working with seniors reminds me of just how much I loved my job as a high school teacher. This years’ seniors have been especially enjoyable including this beautiful girl, Sadelle, who was excited to kick off the start of her senior year with this photo session. A special thanks to Mike who so kindly let us use his ‘55 Olds for a few frames!
