The Sweetest Thing…

What’s not to love about my job?  Especially when it involves photographing a sweet (and very sleepy) baby boy!  We had the U2 lullaby cd playing throughout his session and I’m fairly convinced he and I share the same taste in music.  Note the smile in the last shot of the blog post…that was taken just seconds after I mentioned how much I love U2.  You have great taste, little man!

Baby Buggy…

Ever since I’ve been in  posession of this baby buggy I’ve been patiently waiting for an opportunity to put it to use.  So, imagine my delight when my client told me that her backyard was filled with blooming flowers!  I suspected this might just be the opportunity I’d been hoping for.  As I loaded my husband loaded the buggy into the back of my car, all I could do was hope that it was worth the effort.  As you can see from the images below, I think it was worth all the effort and then some.  This little man is always such a joy to photograph and has such a sweet disposition.  He was tuckered out by the end of the session and literally fell asleep right before my eyes.

Pretty in Pink…

Ever since this client told me they were expecting baby #2 I suspected she might just be having the “pink” variety.  When I learned of the baby’s arrival I wasn’t shocked to hear that it was, in fact a baby girl…and a beautiful one to boot!  This little princess has a loveable big brother who is so very proud of his new title.  Oh, how I loved watching him snuggle up to her and smother her with kisses.  Thanks again, Schultz’s (no relation…just coincidence) and I hope you are enjoying your time back in Canada.  I’ll see you soon!

Will dance for candy…

I’ve been photographing this beautiful little girl for four years now and I can’t begin to tell you how much I’ve enjoyed working with her over the years.  She was so excited about her 4th birthday that I knew I had to plan something very special for her visit.  When they arrived for the session she wanted to be sure I understood that her outfit of choice for the day was her tutu.  Reluctantly, she obliged her mother and wore a regular skirt and tee for a few frames but was more than ready to dive into her princess costume after that!  What luck, as my special plans for her included a trip to the candy store!  A girl in a tutu in a candy store…what fun?!!  When we arrived at the candy store she asked if she could pick out some candy to take home.  “Of course!” I said.  No sooner did I turn to look for a basket and she started dancing around the store.  She was one happy (and adorable) little girl buzzing around the candy store in her tutu!

Peek…

Wow, wow, wow…what a whirlwhind it’s been for me in the past two months.  I have a lot of exciting projects going on all at the same time and as a result my blog seems to have taken a hit.  Never fear though, I’m working furiously to get caught up on my blog posts.  This little guy is the youngest of four in his family and what a ham he is.  He turned on the charm the moment I pulled out my camera and didn’t stop throughout the entire session.  Thanks again you guys for traveling all that way to see me!

Behind the scenes…

I had the opportunity to photograph a new clothing line for Hannah, a young and fiercly talented fashion designer, a few weeks ago and I’m still smiling thinking back on the fun we had.  Hannah has an infectious smile and bubbly personality which definitely influenced the shoot from beginning to end. Thanks again Hannah for trusting me to capture your vision and I wish you the very best with your upcoming endeavors.

Let the games begin…

Tyler, a Stillwater High School senior, came to the studio for his senior pictures a few weeks ago marking the official start to my high school senior season.  If you’ve had a chance to peek through my blog you probably already know that this is something I look forward to each and every year.  I love the opportunity I have to connect with high school students at such an exciting time in their lives.  Tyler has big plans after high school and I have no doubt he will succeed in everything he does.   Best wishes to you, Tyler!

All smiles…

I’ve met quite a few babies in my lifetime but I’m not sure I’ve ever met one who is as smiley as this little man.  He was all smiles when I first met him a few months ago and this time was no different.  It seemed that every time I picked up my camera he smiled even when he was sleeping.  What a ham, eh?!  And you simply HAVE to see the Christening gown his mom made…it is truly a work of art.  His bedroom is still under construction but I have to tell you that I cannot wait to see the room completed!  Such a lucky little boy!

Lisa…

Recently I had the opportunity to collaborate with Lisa, owner of La Rue Marche, on an upcoming project.  We decided to capture some promotional shots “just in case” and oh, what fun we had!  Not only is Lisa incredibly talented with fashion styling and store design, but she is beautiful to boot.  If you are in the Twin Cities area or plan to visit the area and love all things “fashion”…you simply have to make the trip to her store.

It’s a small world…

One of the best things about my job is the opportunity I have to work with people from around the country and the world for that matter.  I love hearing about my clients’ life experiences and what brought them to where they are today.  This particular session took place in what is quickly becoming my favorite little neighborhood in Minneapolis.  I walked in and got right to work photographing adorable little Jack (who is quite fond of books might I add).  At one point during the session Jack’s mom and I started chatting about how we ended up in the Twin Cities area.  She mentioned she was from a small town in Iowa but moved north to attend school.   When I asked where she was from in Iowa, she responded with “Sioux City, it’s a little town in the corner of…”.  I had to cut her off because you see…that is where I grew up.  Neither of us could believe it!  Sioux City isn’t “tiny” but it’s certainly not a big city and it’s a rare occassion when one just bumps into someone from Sioux City.  Although we didn’t go to the same high school I have no doubt our paths must have crossed at some point when we were growing up.  What a small world, eh?!
