Daddy’s Boy…

This little dude was not at all sure what to think of having his picture taken.  I was trying every trick I could think of  but still, he seemed the least bit interested in me or my camera.  In walks his dad and says the words, “Daddy shoots and he SCORES!” and there was nothing but giggles.  Not just a little giggle either!  It worked not once, but twice, and again and again and again… I got the biggest kick out of how quickly his mood changed with those simple words.  Something tells me he is daddy’s little boy and he’s so very proud of it!  His big sister was a doll and loved having the camera all to herself.  Thanks again for coming out to the studio you guys!

“Daddy shoots and he SCORES!!”  (There were actions that went with it!)

Alex and Adelae…

Not only are these two kiddos gorgeous, but don’t they have great names too?!  These siblings came to the studio to get a few new shots for their portfolios and I couldn’t believe how natural they were in front of the camera.  We called it a wrap in no time at all which was probably a good thing with how cold we were outside.  I wish you both the best with your ventures and I’ll see you again in a few weeks!

Oh, boy(s)!

When Katina called to book a session for her family she explained that they had two busy boys and wasn’t sure how well they would sit for pictures.  I had to chuckle because “busy boys” is the exact phrase I use to describe my two boys.  We approached the session with high hopes, but as moms of boys we were both willing to take what we could get.  Luckily, neither of the boys seemed one bit bothered with the prospect of having their pictures taken.  In fact, one of them (hint: the taller of the two) couldn’t seem to get enough…what a ham!

Alex…

Meet Alex, a 2009 Hudson High School senior.   She arrived at the studio with her sister, a friend, and a smile from ear to ear.   We had a great time and I have to admit…it was kinda’ nice working with an audience.  They helped Alex and I forget all about the frigid temps and kept us giggling through most of the session.

Tradition…

Around this time every year my calendar is filled with quite a few family sessions.  So many of the sessions are with clients whom I have worked with in previous years and our Fall sessions have turned into somewhat of a family tradition.  I have worked with this particular family on several occassions and in the proccess I have established quite a friendship with the oldest boy.  I love that he remembers me and is always so eager to share the latest happenings.  As you can see from the last picture in this post I’m still working on his little brother.  I think he’ll come around though.  Ha!

Natural…

Some of you may remember the newborn baby who gave me the “o.k.” signal when I asked if he was ready to have his picture taken. Well, he’s 4 months old now and something tells me he might just be a natural in front of the camera. We started the session in his backyard where the sound of rushing water distracted him momentarily, but he quickly found the camera again and started doing his thing. What fun it is to watch these little ones grow…especially when they love the camera as much as this little guy!

Statement… | Hudson, Wisconsin high school senior pictures

Speaking of childhood friends… in 7th grade my friend Katrena and I were absolutely determined to start our own clothing line called “Statement”.  Our first design was a pair of jeans decorated with puff paint complete with our logo and brand name on the back pocket.  (The first clue that the our odds of making it big as fashion designers were slim to none . HA!)   Life has taken me in many different directions over the years but shooting high school seniors is something that helps me live out my dream of doing something fashionesque.

Nikki is a senior at Stillwater, Minnesota High School and has dreams of going off to college to study (get this!) fashion design.  I loved listening to her describe the visions she has for her own line of clothing she hopes to create someday.  And to top it off, she found a stash of my old records in the loft (yes kids, I’m really that old) and she went crazy over them!  What?  Someone thinks my taste in music is “cool”?!  Gotta’ love that!

Content…

I can think of no better word to describe this little boy than content.  When I arrived for his session he was sound asleep which gave me an opportunity to visit with his mom and hear the story of baby “N”.  At one point in the conversation she pulled out some old family photos explaining that she had been looking through them to see if there was any resemblence to anyone from past generations.  I found the photos so intriguing and was inspired to re-create the vintage look of her treasured heirlooms on one of the shots from her session (see image 5).  Also, see if you can spot a little something poking through his bottom gum in image #1.  My guess is that it won’t be long and baby “N” will have a new tooth!

Ruffles and frills…

Frilly dresses and lace socks…it doesn’t get much more “girl” than that.  Little Miss “A” has a closet filled with the most beautiful clothes.  It’s always such a treat helping her mom decide what to dress her in for our sessions.  I had to laugh though because we picked out the frilliest, prettiest dress in the bunch and what does she do (see image 1)?  Classic!

Meet Mikey… | Mahtomedi high school senior pictures

High school senior, Mikey, was a little shy when he first stepped in front of the camera, but it didn’t take long for him to warm up to it.  Hey Mikey…I think the camera liked you too!  :)
